Storytelling is an ancient and powerful art form. A great story can make even the most complex topic approachable and unforgettable. It provides teachers and students with authentic literature that students will find memorable and engaging.

Fiction books are replete with a variety of genres and colorful illustrations and Nonfiction TIME for Kids® books use rich full-color books with dazzling visuals on high-interest topics. They all provide ample opportunity to develop skills to support deep comprehension as well as easy and natural connections for extending reading to other curricular areas.

Poems and Reader's Theater offer a powerful approach to improving fluency and word recognition, comprehension and self-confidence through repetition, rehearsal, and fluency.

Together they develop lifelong readers, proficient in intertextual learning and who use their imaginations.

Imaginarium puts transferable skills at the core of education and learning, ensuring equity in the quality of learning and learning outcomes so that all children can succeed as lifelong learners. Equipped with advanced critical thinking capabilities and social and emotional abilities, learners can independently weigh in on the content of the information they receive and identify solutions to problems.

Transferable skills contribute to children mastering the instruments and processes to develop knowledge, acquire information, and fundamental basic skills. Skills-based quality learning can help achieve a knowledgeable society through improved learning outcomes. The development of transferable skills has also shown positive impacts on learning and academic outcomes.

Standards

Pearson is committed to producing educational materials that are research and standards based. In this effort, this product is correlated to the different academic standards below.

Standards are designed to focus instruction and guide adoption of curricula. Standards are statements that describe the criteria necessary for students to meet specific academic goals.

They define the knowledge, skills, and content students should acquire at each level. Standards are also used to develop standardized tests to evaluate student's academic progress.

The Pearson Global Scale of English (GSE) is the first truly global English language standard, allowing teachers to more accurately and easily measure learner progress. It pinpoints what needs to be masted in the classroom on a granular level and helps teachers identify lesson learning objectives. They can measure progress on an international level and help learners understand how they are progressing.

Transferable skills include the ability to solve problems, communicate ideas and information effectively, be creative, show leadership and conscientiousness, and demonstrate initiative. Learning and Life skill descriptors provide a clear description of the development of these skills.

The series uses the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) Compendium to create standards correlations. Each year, McREL analyzes state standards and revises the compendium. By following this procedure, McREL is able to produce a general compilation of national standards. Each lesson in this product is based on one or more McREL standards.

The lessons in this book promote English language development for English language learners. The World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) standards support the language objectives presented throughout the lessons.

Common Core Standards Lessons are also correlated to the Common Core State Standards for literacy from kindergarten through grade 9.
